Supervisors provide Scholars with hands on guidance throughout their research project. They bring more than expertise, offering direction, collaboration, and a citable outcome that many Scholars describe as the most meaningful part of their research career so far.

The Impact Scholars Program is a six month mentored research program supporting early career computational science researchers, particularly those from low resource settings, as they develop a research project from the planning stage through to a citable micropublication.
The program is built around three core components: a mentored research project guided by a Supervisor, a concrete research outcome in the form of a citable micropublication, and professional development support to help Scholars grow as researchers along the way.
To date, the program has supported 204 Scholars representing 31 countries, working in small groups across four research tracks: Computational Neuroscience, Deep Learning, NeuroAI, and Computational Tools for Climate Science.
Eligibility
- PhD or equivalent industry/professional experience in Computational Neuroscience, Deep Learning, NeuroAI, or Climate Science.
- Proficient in Python.
- Prior mentoring or teaching experience.
- Strong communication skills for supervising a distributed team remotely.
Program components
- Guide a small group of Scholars through a research project, from planning to a final micropublication.
- About 10 hours of mentoring per month, November 2026 to May 2027 (see guidelines here).
- Support Scholars in developing research skills and communicating their work.
- Co-authorship credit on the final micropublication.
